How We Brought a Travel Campaign to Life
When Expedia approached us to collaborate on a travel campaign for the Dominican Republic, they had an exciting concept in mind: a road trip featuring influencers exploring four distinct regions of the island. Our mission? To capture the essence of the country—its culture, food, adventure, and unique experiences—in a way that felt authentic and immersive.
Pre-Production: Setting the Stage for Success
From the outset, our approach revolved around careful pre-production planning. With such an ambitious itinerary and multiple locations to cover, we needed to ensure that every moment counted. Our team focused on creating flexible scenarios that allowed our talent to shine while leaving room for spontaneous, magical moments that define great travel content.
Production: Capturing the Island’s Best
Our crew of 20 professionals, armed with 20+ Pelican cases of gear, embarked on this unforgettable journey. With four different vans, each serving a unique purpose, we tackled a variety of terrains and locations to capture diverse content.
Innovative Filming Techniques
To create a dynamic and visually stunning series, we used a mix of cinematic filming techniques, including:
Camera mounts on ATVs and cars for thrilling motion shots
Gimbal tracking shots for smooth, immersive visuals

GoPros on selfie sticks for an intimate, first-person perspective
Challenges and Creative Solutions
Every production has unexpected challenges. Upon arrival, we realized that the influencers’ vehicle had completely tinted windows, making exterior shots impossible. Instead of changing our concept, we pivoted quickly, adapting to a more documentary-style approach from inside the van. This adjustment ultimately added to the authenticity and spontaneity of the final footage, making viewers feel like they were truly on the road trip.

Each episode focused on a different corner of the island, featuring unique activities and stunning landscapes. Here are some standout moments:
Waterfall Adventure
One of the most breathtaking scenes came from Episode 3, which highlighted a hidden waterfall deep in the Dominican jungle. The journey required a one-hour hike with heavy gear, but the reward was well worth it. The final slow-motion shots of the cascading water and the influencers diving in were absolutely mesmerizing.
Paragliding Over the Island
For the adventure segment, we went all out—paragliding over the Dominican Republic’s stunning landscapes. With multiple camera angles, including GoPros attached to the talent, drones capturing aerial views, and long-lens ground shots, we created an exhilarating, immersive sequence that truly captured the thrill of flying.
Cultural Dance Experience
At a vibrant local dance hall, we captured an interactive cultural experience, where our talent learned traditional Dominican dance moves. Using low shutter speeds and creative transitions, we added an artistic touch that made this sequence stand out.
